Lead Oscar Nominations
“Atonement”, “Juno”, “Michael Clayton”, “No state for elderly Men” and ” There Will Be Blood” received best picture nominations today for the 80th annual Academy Awards.
“No Country for Old Men” and “There Will Be Blood” led the field with eight nominations each, while “Atonement” and “Michael Clayton” each received seven.
Most outstanding actor nominee are George Clooney (”Michael Clayton”); Daniel Day-Lewis (”There WillÂe Blood”); Johnny Depp (”Sweeney Todd the Demon Barber of Fleet Street”); Tommy Lee Jones (”In the Valley of Elah”) and Viggo Mortensen (”Eastern Promises”).
Best actress nominees are Cate Blanchett (”Elizabeth: The Golden Age”); Julie Christie (”Away from Her”), Marion Cotillard (”La Vie en Rose”); Laura Linney (”The Savages”); and Ellen Page (”Juno”).
The nominees for best behind actress were: Blanchett, “I m Not There”; Ruby Dee, “American Gangster”; Saoirse Ronan, “Atonement”; Amy Ryan, “Gone Baby Gone”; and Tilda Swinton, “Michael Clayton.”
The nominees for best behind actor were: Casey Affleck, “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford”; Javier Bardem, “No Country for Old Men”; Hal Holbrook, “Into the Wild”; Philip Seymour Hoffman, “Charlie Wilson s War”; Tom Wilkinson, “Michael Clayton.”
The nominees for most outstanding manager were: Paul Thomas Anderson, “There Will Be Blood”; Ethan Coen and Joel Coen, “No Country for Old Men”; Tony Gilroy, “Michael Clayton”; Jason Reitman, “Juno”; and Julian Schnabel, “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.”
